Against generative AI detection

When faced with the unknown, humanity is always tempted by simple solutions.

In the (probably very short) era of large language models, these are the AI output detectors.

I believe that AI detection should not be part of the new policies developed for higher education, and the aim of this talk is to explain why and encourage everyone to engage with this very important question.

The talk, based on my posts on https://cesaregardito.substack.com, will survey current detection solutions, their flaws and the impact and reactions of students, and briefly survey potential alternatives, ultimately advocating in favour of assessment reform.
